CARTER'S DRAWINGS OF YORK CATHEDRAL.—MEDAL OF STUKELEY

I shall be glad to ascertain, if possible, through the medium of your columns, who is now the possessor of a volume of elaborate *Drawings of York Cathedral*, which were made by the late John Carter, F. S. A., for Sir Mark M. Sykes, Bart. Mr. Carter was paid a large sum on account of these drawings during the progress of his task, but after the death of the baronet, he demanded such an extravagant price that the executors declined to take the volume. At the sale of the artist's effects it was sold to Sir Gregory Page Turner, Bart., for 315*l.* It again came to the hammer, and was purchased by…
